Van Heggelund took over Heggelund Training in 1978 from his well-known father, world champion horse trainer, Al Heggelund. Van Heggelund has excelled in the family tradition of training world champion horses, numerous top ten contenders and world show qualifiers. In addition to his excellent horsemanship skills Van also holds a degree in Equine Science and has taught several years at the college level. By using time tested and proven methods the Heggelund Training Team has developed programs that work for both the horse and rider.
